Knives Out

For Knives Out I decided to tell the story in a vintage circus style.

I focused on a vintage circus style because I felt it perfectly captured the chaotic and wild nature of the Thrombey family. I also thought there was an interesting correlation between “knives out” and knife throwing that is used in many circus acts. Playing off of this idea, I experimented with Marta on the target and each of the family members in a knife to symbolize their behavior towards her upon discovering she’s the only one on Harlan Thrombey’s will. The ring leader of my Thrombey circus is Benoit Blanc, the famed detective, as he is in complete control of this investigation and all its deceitful suspects.
