I wanted to put the viewer into the mind of Joe, the stalker, and convey how strong his obsession is for Beck. To push this idea, I used the bookshelves to tighten the composition on Joe’s crazed expression, emphasizing how he can’t see anything else but her. I also took inspiration from Joe’s inner dialogue where he’s constantly talking to Beck in his head. To reflect this in my poster, I hid the word “you” in the background and on the books as if he can’t escape his thoughts of Beck.
I followed my normal process of thumbnails, refined drawings, and color/value studies before starting my final piece.
